RESOURCES ON THE STATE AND CIVIL LIBERTIES

Tony Bunyan's Library And Archive

This Collection started in the late 1950s when I became immersed in the new “wave” of exciting literature, cinema and theatre – the cultural revolution of the late 1950s – which took me to the Central School of Speech and Drama where I did the full-time course on Stage Management and Production when the Stanislavski “school” was thriving there – and I started “collecting”. The middle to late 1960s saw me involved in the 1967 and 1968 protests and the extra-parliamentary movements of the 1970s.

Books with early printing dates, limited issues, special character of an edition or binding, and historical interest.

Unique periodicals from national and local activism, political and social struggles and movements over the last 50 years.

Topic based collections including ABC Official Secrets case (1977–79), the Angry Brigade trials, the Leveller Magazine court case.

Pamphleteering has a long and honorable history. This section includes both pamphlets and slim paperbacks.

A varied collection focusing on paper and hardback copies. The collection includes titles on history and struggles; policing; security and intelligence; racism and fascism.

Official EU documents and key texts, as well as a number of titles relating to European Politics, and State and Nation building.

The collection holds near complete set of Encore magazines: “The voice of vital theatre” and many other titles.

“The trouble at LSE, 1966-1967” by Harry Kidd lives alongside “Malatesta: Life and The Slow Burning Fuse: Secret history of British anarchists”.
